Villari raises EUR 4 million

Villari, a Delft-based company offering innovative crack-detection sensors, secured €4 million from their investors FORWARD.one and InnovationQuarter Capital, with participation from two individuals key to the company. EUR 32.5 mio series A round Vivici

Vivici, a Dutch startup backed by multinational dsm-firmenich and dairy multinational Fonterra, has raised €32.5 million in a Series A funding round. The financing round was led by APG - on behalf of pension fund ABP - and Invest-NL. InnovationQuarter also participated in the investment round, in addition to existing shareholders dsm-firmenich and Fonterra. With this investment, Vivici can take the next step towards further scaling up and commercialization. Vivici was founded in 2023 with the mission to realize the commercial potential of precision fermentation. Precision fermentation – the method Vivici uses to make dairy protein – combines the process of traditional fermentation with modern biotechnology. This technology makes it possible to produce high-quality proteins without the use of animals. In this way, the company meets the protein needs of a growing world population in a sustainable way, without compromising on price, taste or nutritional value. Olym advised APG, Invest-NL and InnovationQuarter in this transaction.

Medal raises $13 million

Medal, a startup that is known for its video game clipping product, has raised $13 million at a valuation of $333 million from several investors, including Horizons Ventures, OMERS Ventures, Peak6 and Arcadia Investment Partners. The company also unveiled Highlight, a new cross-platform desktop app that acts as a contextual AI assistant for users. The app captures the content on your screen and lets you ask questions to a large language model (LLM) based on that context. We advised Medal in this equity financing round.

Aquabattery secures €6m seed investment

Aquabattery, a Dutch climate tech startup developing a saltwater long duration energy storage (LDES) solution, has closed a €6 million seed investment round. The round was led by EIT InnoEnergy and supported by InnovationQuarter, Invest-NL, Init Power, and a group of business angels. Aquabattery is developing a novel flow battery that can store clean electricity in table salt and water for 8 hours or longer. When charged, the battery converts saltwater into acid and base and reverses the process when discharged. The company is preparing to launch its fourth pilot battery in Delft later this autumn. Olym advised Invest-NL and InnovationQuarter on this investment.

PhotonVentures, the deep tech venture capital fund focused on startups and scale-ups developing solutions with photonic chips, has closed its second fundraising round of over €15 million, bringing the fund's total to the targeted €75 million. The fund targets essential applications in data transmission, health diagnostics, and smart sensor systems, while also aligning with major global trends such as AI, AR, and VR. Private and strategic investors, together with the support of BOM (Brabant Development Agency), Oost NL, TNO, and the University of Twente, made this funding round possible. Methaplanet raises EUR 6M

Methaplanet, an innovative scale-up focused on preparing and optimizing agricultural waste streams to enhance their utilization in biogas plants, has completed a €6M investment round led by ABP, with backing from EIT InnoEnergy and business angels. Methaplanet makes energy pellets from manure that contains a lot of straw, which can be used to produce biogas more efficiently. Olym advised lead investor ABP on this investment round.
